The Federal Cabinet has decided to ensure uninterrupted gas supply to the domestic consumers in winter.

The cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in Islamabad also decided that all government and public sector employees have to declare their assets. It decided to increase the monthly subsidy from 15 billion rupees to 25 billion rupees for power sector to end power outages. The cabinet was briefed that inflation has been contained to single digit as all indices have shown improvement compared with the corresponding period last year. The cabinet also discussed the provision of cheap tractors to farmers for boosting agricultural production. It was also decided to procure sugar immediately due to lower rates. Briefing the media about cabinet decisions, Federal Information Minister Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan gave a good news regarding natural gas. She said Prime Minister Gilani will inaugurate the 100 million cubic feet gas supply from the new reserves in Hyderabad. The information minister said the government would negotiate the formula for gas supply to CNG and other industries in consultation with stakeholders.
