Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan attaches high priority to its relations with Afghanistan and wants to further Strenghen the Broadbased, close and cooperative relationship existing between the two countries.
The Prime Minister said this while talking to the outgoing Afghan ambassador, Mr. Mohammad Anwar Anwarzai, who paid a farewell call on him at the prime minister’s house today.The Prime Minister said that the ties between the two countries are rooted in shared faith, culture, history and heritage and Pakistan is committed to the process of engagement with Afghanistan at all levels and desires a stable and peaceful Afghanistan, which is in its best interest. The Prime Minister recalled his recent cordial and constructive meeting with afghan president Hamid Karzai in Colombo, on the sidelines of the SAARC summit. Mr. Gilani said that Mr. Karzai and Himself agreed on rescheduling the joint ministerial conference and convening of the mini Jirga aswell.
