In Iraq, three American soldiers and five Iraqis have been killed in separate incidents of continuing violence.
Two American soldiers were killed and another was wounded in a bomb blast in the capital Baghdad. The morning attack occurred in the central Baghdad district of Karadah.
The US military also announced that one us soldier was killed and two were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in rolled over at a base near Baghdad.A bomb planted in a Baghdad street targeted an Iraqi army patrol, killing two people and wounding 15.
Nine soldiers were among the injured.
In Mosul, a bodyguard of the Kurdish deputy governor of Nineveh province was killed and six others wounded by a roadside bomb.
