The six powers holding nuclear talks with Tehran have threatened to pursue new punitive action against Iran if it does not accept their offer of incentives to freeze uranium enrichment operations.
Senior diplomats from the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China discussed the latest developments by telephone and agreed to push for new action against Iran if it continued holding out. U.S state department spokesman said, they agreed that in the absence of a positive response, they have no choice but to pursue further measures. E.U foreign policy chief Javier Solana also held talks with Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Saeed Jalili. Iran later delivered a message to Solana, but a source with the supreme national security council said it is not a response to the offer drawn up by major powers to end the nuclear crisis.
